Family Organizations

There are many ways for families to get involved with the Glen Park School community. Here’s a brief introduction to our four family organizations.

  • Parent Teacher Organization

The Glen Park Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a non-profit organization that exists to enhance and support the educational experience at Glen Park School. We hope through our efforts that we can nurture a closer connection between school and home by encouraging parental involvement, and in turn we will improve the environment at Glen Park School through volunteer and financial support.

  • School Site Council

A School Site Council must be established at all San Francisco Unified School District public schools. The elected members represent parents, community members, and school staff in school governance. The SSC is responsible for the development of the Balanced Score Card/School Plan for Student Achievement (BSC/SPSA) and the overall school site budget, including any categorical (State & Federal) funds.

  • English Learners Advisory Committee

The purpose of the English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC) is to advise the principal, School Site Council (SSC) and school staff on programs and services for English Learners. The tasks are similar to the SSC's and also include ways to ensure high achievement for EL students and to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance. ELAC holds monthly meetings and parents are encouraged to attend.

  • African American Parent Advisory Council

The mission of the African American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC) is to provide a forum to hear the ideas of the San Francisco Unified School District's African American/Black families, and respond to those ideas by educating and informing parents of district resources, policies, and programs.
